“...Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” – 2 Corinthians 13:11
Sometimes we forget that while being saved by grace is a key element to our salvation, it does not stop there. God calls us to mature in our walk with Him. To grow closer to Him through Bible study and prayer. This is not a box to check on our to do list. This is the formation of a real relationship.
Maturity comes through growth (and it isn’t always easy). Being like a duck and just letting “it” roll off our backs. Sure, your opinion may be the correct one, but does proving your point rather than letting something go hurt or grow a relationship? These are the things we learn as we continue growth.
This weekend take some time to ask yourself “what area of my life needs refinement and growth?” Where are you lacking? Dig into scripture and pray that God will give you the opportunity to sharpen those areas of your life that you may be an encouragement to others.
The NKJV version of this verse says to “become complete.” I love that! God’s work in your life isn’t done when you accept His grace. It’s just beginning! We should strive to “become complete.”
