Be kind to someone today. Before you think, “eh, I don’t really have time to make a big grand gesture.” Keep it simple. It doesn’t have to be something that takes your entire afternoon (unless of course you’re on a generous spree). Call a friend just to say hi. Ask about their day, and really listen when they talk. Greet a stranger with a smile and open the door for them. If there was a time when someone showed you kindness, but you never thanked them or meant to on a later date, take a hot minute to show your gratitude to them now.
When I notice something someone is wearing which I genuinely like, I tell them. I hope people notice the effort I put into looking nice, so I try to return the favor. The point is to love. Start small today, but make an effort to act in kindness each day. It’s often quite easy to get wrapped up in ourselves and forget we are called to love.
“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13
