Intentionality in relationships have become my modus operandi over the last year. While quick “thinking of you texts” are an easy act of caring, I’ve challenged myself to go deeper. To show up in relationships. To be a friend people count on.
Last night after church I had the chance to girl talk, laugh, be silly, get serious, with two friends. In a moment when the outside world could hold while we enjoyed each other’s company, I realized why friendship is so important.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17
We need companionship. We need accountability. We need a shoulder. We need a “what were you thinking” look from a good friend.
Today’s challenge is to show up for a friend. A quick phone call. A dinner (or brunch because brunch is simply amazing). Lend a listening ear or just be ready to get silly. Make more of an effort to enjoy and cherish the friendships in your life.
