Be Kind To Yourself

Woman dancing on the beach with a Psalm 139:14 overlay.

“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

I challenge you today to be kind to yourself. Stop comparing your beauty, talents, or personality to the same unattainable standards the world uses.

We do that often don’t we? Why did I eat that piece of chocolate? Why can’t I lose just 10 more pounds and look like her? Their life is waaay more rad than mine.

We then proceed to focus on how much cardio will burn said piece of chocolate. We’ll waste time obsessing over the number on the scale just so we can look like someone else, or we’ll allow comparison of lifestyles to steal the joy from our blessings.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made….” Psalm 139:14

Fearfully and wonderfully made. Your beauty far exceeds the beauty standard the world uses to judge itself. Today, be kind to you. Take a few minutes to focus on your positive qualities and the blessings God has given you. Stop allowing negative thoughts to control your days.

Remember God wants us to “take every thought captive.” 2 Corinthians 10:5. Make a list. Write down what you like about you. Sometimes we can be narrow minded when it comes to ourselves and we often lose sight of the unique qualities shaping our personality.

Today when self doubt and negativity attempt to rain on your party, remind yourself you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
